Outside in December

The kids and I (and Panga, always) went for a walk the other day to collect some new samples for our nature table, and to make leaf pressings and sun prints.  We’ve lived in Oregon 7 1/2 years now, and it still surprises me how much green there is outside.  Of course there are trees and grasses that “go to sleep” in the winter, but there is a lot that is very much awake, too.  And not just awake, but active!  It’s always such a surprise to drive by a field that has just been planted and is starting to sprout…in November!  Anyway, here are some pictures from our nature walk last week, as we celebrated the winter solstice and the return of the sun…
