Address the Roots

October 18, 2012 at 6:44 am (Positive Discipline)

Parents may be skeptical of positive parenting as it seems so “touchy-feely.” Too touchy-feely. As in, not enough visible action given in response to behavior. Yes, a positive approach to discipline does give a lot of emphasis to feelings.

Feelings are at the root of all behavior.

The behaviors we see on the surface are a reflection of the feelings rooted underneath. We can use topical treatments to try to change what the behavior looks like. But if we really want things to change, we need to address the roots.

Nourish the roots, see the growth.

I am always encouraged & feel so blessed to read your Positive Discipline approaches and I’ve shared the wisdom & insight with others. This is truly an investment…..I am grateful to your tackling. Parenting is challenging enough and am sure, myself included, many parents wish they had this info at their fingertips many years ago.
Thank you for your publishing this and other posts I look forward to receiving. Terreah Dietel
